Wow Keila had her very first trip to Japan, she got back on Dec 6 and since then she has been sick and ochikonderu, she misses her futon room and her family in Japan. Too bad our families are so far apart, I wish everyone could just be close together in one central location, like Orange County or something.
Here are a couple of pictures of Keila in her precious futon room at Obaachan & Ojiichan's home ;>

By the way the flight wasn't too bad but it wasn't the best either. We did get the bulkhead which I now have mixed feelings about (especially since we were on an older plane). We had a few inches of extra leg room but the flickering light from the movie screen was so bright it was near impossible for us to get any sleep, also the arm rests did not move so we were stuck with the dividers. Keila slept for about 1 hour on the way to Japan but hardly slept at all on the way back. The baby carrier came in handy so I could strap her to me and have some assurance she was safe while I slept. Here is a picture of Keila on the way to Japan. We used the Delta blankets to line the floor and then her own blanket to make her a "1st class seat!"

Anyways, the day after we arrived in Japan we went to go visit Yohei's grandmother. It was her first time meeting Keila!

Also, it was ojiichan's 60th birthday. Happy Birthday! (Keila was sleeping here)

The next day we took Keila to the park and the supermarket. We were still a bit jetlagged, despite the fact that I was extremely excited to be in Japan, we took it easy.

On the 3rd day of our trip we finally made it to Ikebukuro, my shopping haven. Not only was it only 7 minutes away by train but it had all of the necessities a girl could ever need including (but not limited to) Parco, Tobu and Alta, oh and last but not least, MATSUMOTO KIYOSHIIIII

Keila was definitely interested and intrigued by Tokyo, she learned more about her heritage, tried different types of food, rode on the train, went to Ueno zoo and saw a lot of animals up close, such as elephants, owls, bears, tigers, lions, gorillas, monkeys, zebras and giraffes, to name a few. She had an amazing time at the zoo (and so did we). I would have to say, this was the best Y600 per adult ever spent, (actually Okaasan bought it for us, thank you Okaasan)! Here are some pictures from the zoo.

The next day it was already time for the big celebration of ojiichan's 60th birthday. We went to the Shibuya Tobu hotel, Keila walked through the busiest intersection of Tokyo on a Friday night because that is how she rolls, (thank you for the phrase Ryuta).

After the 60th celebration I felt a gloomy sense of our trip winding down, we were already pretty much halfway through. So for the final few days, we did as much as we could. We went to visit with friends, went back to Happo-En, shopped, and went to Tokyo's Disney Sea, (thanks Tomo)! I tried to eat as much food as possible but its more difficult with Keila. Its not like I can just pop into a kaiten sushi bar or hole in the wall ramen joint, I have to plan, for days in advance, in fact once I spent like 5 hours looking through a hot pepper trying to find a child friendly place, I started marking of yes and no options with a sharpee and it was ridiculous.
Anyways, here are some pictures from the last few days of our trip.

Having a good time at home sweet home in Ikebukuro!

On the train, Keila loved to pull the handlebars.

After Disney Sea, Keila was exhausted but she still had a bit of energy left to have our last dinner with friends at an Izakaya in Shinjuku. We rushed to the train station, rushed to switch trains and spilt milk on some extremely annoyed passenger but all well worth it for a relaxing and fun dinner.
On the way home Yohei was able to distract Keila from crying by pointing out a tiny little bug that was crawling on the other side of the train window, I hate bugs but thank goodness for that one. I was so tired too, there were a lot of old business men on the train so I didn't want Keila to cry too much since they all looked really impatient and tired, but then one random guy came up to me and said, "don't worry about her crying, because even her cry is the cry of a little angel." I thought this was really random but I was happy that he thought Keila's cry sounded like an angel, she is my little angel for sure! She wakes me up every morning and makes me so happy.
As of now, we are finally over our jet lag. I have been cooking Japanese food like a mad women recently since its all I want to eat. Today I made nabeyaki udon. Also I am really looking forwrad to our next trip to Japan. I hope we can make it back before another year goes by. I'd like Keila to go to Japan as much as possible. Anyways I am going to bed now. oyasumi!
