Adventures in the life of Keila updated

Wow its been such a long time since I last updated this blog, hard to beleive that 2 months have gone by!! Updating this blog has been on my list of things to do, among other things. I've decided to start studying for the CPA exam (again) and pass it this time. Since I'm not working anymore, I need to be mentally challenged and I figure this is a good way to do it. I usually spend about 4 hours at night studying after Keila goes to sleep. But I can't forget about my blog!!! This is creating memories that will last a lifetime.

Well the last update was 2 months ago, that was before my birthday dinner, before my big "date night" with Yohei, before our trip to LA and before our first Japanese bbq. Also, Keila started solid foods, she rolls all over the place, and continues to make us smile everyday! The only thing that Keila wasn't involved in (from the above) was the date night with Yohei. Even though Yohei had only worked at NY life for a couple of weeks he already qualified for the black tie dinner that was held at the Four Seasons in Palo Alto. Naturally I was all excited to go, and made a big deal over what to wear. And my parents watched Keila. It was so nice to go and meet all of Yohei's coworkers. and I was really happy that I fit into my pre-pregnancy dress. Yohei looked great in his suit as well.
After the dinner we went to Orange County for a week, not right after, the day after. We were able to use Yohei's Marriott rewards points, and we got our room upgraded to a suite. There were chocolates on the bed and everything. We put Keila on the big bed and she seemed to really enjoy it.
The next day we took her out to meet everyone.
Here she is with Junko san.
Keila and Fumi!
Here is Keila with Sachi!
Here is Keila and Mike san, we ran into them by coincidence.
Here is Keila with my old coworker Keith.
Here is Keila with Fumi, what a cute picture!
Keila and James, both smiling big.
Here is Keila with my two friends from college, Aurora and Phillip. After meeting Keila, Aurora wants to have a baby too!
Here is Keila at the beach.

Once we got back from Orange County, I decided to start giving Keila "solid food" which is actually nothing more than breast milk with a tiny bit of rice cereal crumbs added to make it thicker. When we first put the spoon in her mouth her reaction was like, "What the heck is going on!" Here is a video of Keila's first experience with solids, priceless!

Keila's getting bigger everyday. At present she is 5 days away from her 6 month birthday!

She weighs about 15 lbs. A couple of weeks ago we set up her crib, although she still doesnt sleep in it, (I like her close to me). She likes her cosleeper. We have tried putting her in the crib but I don't think she is quite used to it yet, she looks really cute in it though.

In addition to studying, and being a mom, I've also decided to start a Japanese group in the bay area, on facebook. The purpose of the group is for Japanese people to have fun together doing things like karaoke that are customary in Japan. We had our first event last week, a bbq at golden gate park so that all the members could get to know eachother, have a good time, and eat. About 20 members came which was a great turnout. The weather was beautiful. We barbecued chicken, beef, and ate donuts and cheesecake. Of course Keila came, Yohei came, my dad, etc.

Other than that, Keila has just been getting bigger, cuter, and smarter. I think sometimes she tries to cry to see my reaction, it breaks my heart to hear her cry so I run to her and pick her up, then she is immediately happy again. She is such a faker! I think she is so sweet you can't blame the girl for being bored, and she doesnt really know how to express herself yet. Good thing I'm really strong to carry her around all of the time.

As I mentioned before, Keila loves sleeping in her little cosleeper. I would recommend the cosleeper we have to any parent, I love it so much! Its called the "arms reach cosleeper" it is so cute because on either side is a mesh wall and Keila loves to press her face against the mesh and look outside before falling asleep. Often times, we will play a game together where I put my face on the opposite side of her and play peekaboo, she loves it!

This is how we play peekaboo, she is sleeping here though.

I will always think back to how fun it is to play peekaboo with Keila in the cosleeper. Seeing her little face pressed against the mesh and looking at me is so cute, I can't even explain! I must remember to keep updating this blog, because like I said, its memories like these that will last a lifetime!
